So the match is over and MAN what a match!
Beforehand Loko and me decided that we could not win desert, so we stoped traiing it in the last hours before the match. the key to win had to be Stadium and we both concentrated hard on that map, also letting Island a bit behind, we were sure to win that.
After a lot of wu this eveing we qwere both pretty confident to be able to play a very nice match on Stadium, so it would depend on Kimi's performance to decide the map for or against us.
But it was to come differently.
At the set matchtime Loko psycho and me were already long on the server having played us intensivley warm. Kimi was missing.
About 10 mins later the CMCs turned up, and started warming up themselves and prepared to get started. we got a bit nervous that kimi was not there yet, but agreed to start Island with Psycho Loko and me.
To make it short it was certainly not our best performance on Island ever, but CMC was even more crashy and overall slower then us, they got 2 more or less lucky points, but we had the round well under control.
So in the end an absolutely clear und undoubted 7:2 win for us.
Then we progressed to Stadium, and the nervositiy became a touch of panic, still no sign of Kimi. Desperately we searched for him, and as all was in vain, we asked CMC if instead of Kimi Kenji, as new but unregistered Dvil" could play for us. But they denied us that oppotunity, and who can blame them, it's their right to do so.
So that left us with two fully trained and fully motivated drivers, and an open spot which had to bbe filled with either Mike or Psycho, both not preparend, and both not "natural talents" on Stadium, no offense to you both
In the end psycho drove, with the main goal to finish within timelimit, and the remote chance to maybe catch one of the opponents if he crashes really badly.
But again it was to come differently.
the match started after very confusing warmup laps where CMC drove with about 7 drivers, and nobody knew who was eventually going to count. Once sorted out the match could begin. We, even with the handicap of one key-player missing, decided not to roll over, and give them a fight for their money.
And we did!
Psycho was able to drive good consistent laps, about 3 to 6 seconds behind the leaders, but nevertheless the best he could do at his point. And Loko and me drove for our lives at the front, knowing that we had to finish 1,2 or 1,3 if we wanted to win. Maybe it was the surprise of our ferocious determination to win, lack of concentration, or maybe just a little arrrogance, but from the first round on CMC was starting to crash. They crashed almost every round in the first 5 runs, and loko and me drove one of our best matches. we got to lead 4:1 and 5:2 but then CMC found their stride, and hit back with some really good runs, partially in the deep 56. But still we did not give up, and forced the decider at 6:6.
That run was incredibly intense, as Loko me and two CMCs were head-to-head untill the last grasspart, where both Loko and me lost it finally.
It was an unlucky way to lose, but again we gave a great battle, drove at the edge of our possibilities, and still lost. At the end we can't help ourselves thinking "what if?" "what if Kimi or Olli or tcq would have been there?" But in the end we can't change it.
Again a great battle, and again we lost.
After that the desert, also without our regular player Kimi. Again psycho who had at least trained the map a bit did replayce him, but as we did not care too much in the first place about this map we didn't have too many hopes now.
Furthermore i was so flashed after that Stadiumrounds, that i really coudn't concentrate on desert anymore. it took about 5 rounds untill i was back in business. Loko and psycho also did not rise like Phoenix from the ashes now, and predictably CMC took the map easy home, winning 7:0.
So in the end two very clear maps, and one incredibly intense Stadiummap, it was an awesome match there, but agina we lost unluckily.
